Dr. Selena Snow is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland (license #03834).
Dr. Snow earned a B.A. in Psychology from the City University of New York and graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors in Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1999 from the University of Maryland where she was admitted to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Internship training was completed at Yale University School of Medicine followed by a two year Post-Doctoral Fellowship for advanced training in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Snow has provided psychological services in many types of settings, including, medical hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, university counseling center, nursing homes and rehab facilities, and mental health clinics. Post-graduate employment has also included working as a psychological consultant at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Previous work experience has included conducting individual, couples, family, and group therapy as well as psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. Her research on anger management has been presented at scientific conferences and published in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine. She has also taught training seminars to psychiatry residents, in-house medical staff, and social work interns. In addition, she has supervised psychology doctoral students.
Currently, Dr. Snow is the founder and Director of The Snow Psychology Group, LLC, a group private practice in Rockville, MD, which has continued to grow through the referrals of satisfied patients and their medical providers. Therapists at the practice work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) orientation to help patients make changes in their patterns of thinking and behavior so they can feel better, cope more effectively, and move towards their personal goals. Dr. Snow also has advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Snow strongly believes in volunteering to serve her community. She has volunteered with the Alzheimer's Association leading a support group for caregivers of relatives with Alzheimer's Disease and volunteered with her state psychological association to provide depression screenings to community members. She volunteers at her children's school. She also served on the Board of Directors for her community civic association for more than a decade where she chaired the Parks and Recreation committee and coordinated with county and state officials to improve the quality of life for her family, friends, and neighbors.
Dr. Snow enjoys spending her free time with her husband of over 20 years and their 4 children, which includes twins.
